Many of us don't know what to make of the leather community or of people with a kinky sense of sexuality.  When we think of S&M, images of hard-ass biker tough guys or femme fatales in fishnets and heels immediately come to mind.  These are the stereotypes that we rely on, the same stereotypes Hollywood has perpetuated and in some instances created. Some of Hollywood's best known movies have impacted our perceptions about leather and kink in ways that people seldom realize and a few movies directly shaped the leather community itself as it grew and shifted.  Hollywood KINK takes us on a fascinatingly sexy journey through some of these remarkable films.  From Marlon Brando’s sexy tough guy in The Wild One(1953) to Al Pacino as an undercover cop who enters the gay leather and S&M world in Cruising(1980), to the hedonistic island of masters and slaves in Exit to Eden (1994) and the life of an office assistant who discovers the pleasure in being used in Secretary (2002) Nowadays GLBT people are portrayed in film with more empathy than ever, but you may be surprised at how Tinseltown treats the sexual mavericks among us.  Slip into your chaps and strap-on your harness.  Now sit down!, I said sit down! Joshua Johnson researched and developed Hollywood KINK. Johnson is founder of goLEATHER, an organization for young adults that are into or curious about leather as a community. Johnson received a Leathertarian award at Florida Fetish Weekend 2006 for his work with goLEATHER.
