Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival announces an inaugural programmatic addition ScriptLAB.
This addition to our festival has been created as an opportunity for a film industry
professional (selected by the MGLFF) to stage their script informally in front of an audience.
Working with actors from the Mad Cat Theatre Company the chosen script will be performed
in its entirety to enable the audience’s comments to feed into the development of the script
as it journeys through the pre-production stages.
What sets the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival’s ScriptLAB apart from other festivals is the
fact that we require scripts to contain English dialogue plus another language. Watch for
submission guideline information in June 2007.
We are delighted to present our inaugural ScriptLAB performed reading of Lost Dog
presented by scriptwriter/director Mary Guzman (Desi’s Got a New Girl - MGLFF 2001. Her
new short film Do The Math plays as part of What Girls Want on Saturday May 5th).
KD Fagan, a private detective fresh out of rehab returns to her previous stomping ground to
find she has mistreated and alienated her friends, lovers and colleagues. Ana, a lawyer for a
domestic office is the only person from her past willing to give KD a chance. Taking on the
most difficult cases, KD finds and serves subpoenas to male batterers only to find herself
wrapped up in intrigue when a woman is murdered. While simultaneously a group of
mysterious vigilantes take things into their own hands. The plot twists on itself as the
suspected batterer is her ex’s new lover’s brother.
Total running time: 120min.
